“Exceptional Accommodation with Wonderful Hosts”

This was our second stay at L'Ermitage, our first was only for 1 night way back in 2011. Our host, Elizabeth, couldn't do enough for us, & that visit left us with so many wonderful memories of the region of Alsace & the B&B, that we purposely set our 2017 itinerary to return to this region once again & stay at L'Ermitage, but this time for 3 nights to take more in of this beautiful location.

Elizabeth & Alain welcomed us weary travellers again with warm greetings, an exceptional evening meal & the perfect spacious room with one of the best views overlooking the mountains. Their home is always open to you & throughout the property there is always somewhere peaceful to lounge & enjoy the serenity.

This B&B has to be the best that we've ever stayed at throughout our four visits to Europe over the past 11 years.

"Unforgettable romantic stay !"

My husband booked for 3 nights in this spectacular French mansion to celebrate our wedding anniversary, which was really a good choice. The house is situated on a hill in an Alsacean village with a very humble gate (a bit hard to find with sat nav). We stayed in the room with jacuzzi and a view overlooking the vineyard. The room was very comfortable, with find decorations. There were complimentary water, coffee and tea bags. We can use the downstairs living room freely. We also had our anniversary dinner prepared by Elizabeth, the very friendly hostess, and the food was amazing and I couldn't have imagined me doing the same myself! She is a very fine lady, and we really appreciated her calling some winery for us as we don't speak French. Highly recommended!

"Hidden Gem - don't miss it !"

This is perfection. If you're after a hidden gem, off the beaten track, then this is the place for you. Great scenery. Beautiful grounds. A wonderful hostess, who serves up great food for dinner if you should wish it. All rooms renovated to a high standard. Luxury well beyond the price bracket, so very good value. The pool is fabulous. Secure gated parking.

"What a special place with special people"

We stayed at L'Ermittage on our way back from Austria and couldn't have found a more beautiful, perfect place to stay. Elisabeth and her husband were just so incredibly kind to us and made us a wonderful lunch & then even invited us to have a traditional Sunday evening meal with them. They will never know how much we appreciated everything they did for us and their kindness. Such a wonderful place and even more wonderful owners have resurrected our faith in humanity. We can't recommend this special place enough. A perfect stop over going to Switzerland, Italy & Germany from the UK.

“Superb stay”

We just spent 5 fantastic days at Ermitage. What a grand and majestic old house! We had a beautiful and romantic renovated suite. Our host, Elisabeth, was attentive and offered great sightseeing tips. By the way, she cooks up a gourmet storm for dinner, which has to be be reserved at least a day in advance, and is not always possible if her schedule doesn't allow. We highly recommend dinner -it was absolutely the best meal we had during our whole time in Alsace. Ermitage is also pretty central to many sightseeing places in the area, and only 30 minutes to Strasbourg. This quiet location is ideal for a romantic visit to Alsace. We were over the moon about our stay.

"Wonderful welcome. Bon accueil"

This is a beautiful house, matched by the welcome from Elizabeth who is both a good host and a great cook. She is also a wine connoisseur with some lovely wines in her cellar.
We would go out of our way to stay there again.

"A simply perfect place to stay for us"

We stayed at the Ermitage du Rebberg during a hiking vacation. We were exceptionally delighted about pretty much everything: the awesome mansion, the stylish interior, the great view, the spacious surroundings, the peaceful atmosphere, the delicious supper. But most of all we enjoyed Mrs. Goetzmann's hospitality. There is nothing that could have been better except for the length of our stay - which is, of course, our own mistake!

“Just fantastic. One of nicest hotels at which we have ever stayed”

L’Ermitage du Rebberg is a delightful hotel. The rooms are large, quiet, and beautifully decorated. The grounds are extensive with walking paths replete with bird songs, inviting swimming pool, and leisure areas inside and out. The nicest part of our stay was our hostess, Elisabeth Goetzmann , who was extremely thoughtful and anticipated our every need. She is a very warm and caring person and also an excellent chef. She prepared two outstanding dinners for us, served in a private room with a beautifully set table and wonderful wines (mostly Alsatian, but also a Cote du Rhone). Every course was superb, The breakfasts which are included in the room price are also elegantly presented and extremely generous with homemade bread and croissants, fresh fruit salad, butter, jam, ham, cheese, juice and tea or coffee. This was not a buffet, but was all placed on our table. We very sorry to have to leave after only two nights. L’Ermitage du Rebberg is in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains near the north end of the Alsatian Wine route and an excellent choice for anyone travelling along the wine route or in the Vosges Mountains.

A relaxing getaway

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in late June. Elizabeth explained that a film crew had just left after several weeks of filming and she was still getting the place back in order. She had upgraded our room and emailed me a day in advance asking if we wanted dinner. The dinner the first night was outstanding, so of course, we had dinner there again the second night. The owners are incredible chefs! Our favorite was the foie gras dumplings in broth. I could've eaten that every day.

The room was very spacious and had a nice view of the pool and hills. The property is nicely maintained and has walking paths and is up in the hills, away from the main road. It's in a great location for exploring the Alsace wine route, Colmar, Strasbourg, etc. This is such a beautiful area. I wish we had more time there. The breakfasts were also nice- meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, a baguette, croissant, etc.

If you're looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, this is the place.

A real gem !

A wonderful place to escape to and relax. Beautiful surroundings, plenty to see and do nearby. Hosts are really warm and welcoming. Definitely recommend the evening meals. Such a treat. Not many British tourists seem to venture to this beautiful part of France which is a pity because the scenery, food, wine and attractions, in our opinion, are superior to the more well known wine regions of the SW. Quite the hidden gem!

A charming host in a magnificient house

Elizabeth (Betty) is indeed a charming host in a beautifully restored grand manor. We were upgraded to a huge (50m2) at no extra cost. It was laid out in such a way as to be effectively two rooms, all beautifully decorated.

Both dinner (pre-booked) and breakfast were excellent. A picnic lunch was offered and provided at no extra cost.

Overall a memorable experience.

Unique and special experience away from the madding crowd on Alsace main drag

It’s impossible to describe thus experience. Elizabeth is a positively charming hostess who welcomed us into her beautiful family home and presented us with a wonderful meal on Limoges crockery. Her attention to detail coupled with flair and her personal warmth made this night one of the more unique experiences one could have in rural France. This was best described as ’sophisticated rural France’ in a family home which was once the ’summer house’ of the nearby castle, and set in 12 hectares of wooded parkland. This would be a great place for a group of friends to converge for a night or two. The setting is lovely but the hostess is the highlight !
